    A brown-bag session, “Still Too Slow: The Advancement of Women,” will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana, Room 314A. The event features Virginia Valian, a professor of psychology at Hunter College, who researches the reasons behind women’s slow advancement in the professions and proposes remedies for individuals and institutions.

The Pathways to Results (PTR) year one project, facilitated by the Office of Community College Research and Leadership, aims to assemble a meaningful plan for implementing an evidence-based improvement that addresses documented gaps in students’ equitable outcomes.

  • Guaranteed-tuition laws inflating college costs, study finds

    Guaranteed-tuition laws such as the one enacted in Illinois are driving significant increases in tuition and fees at public colleges and universities, ultimately making higher education less affordable for resident and nonresident students, according to a new study by Jennifer Delaney, an associate professor in the Department of Education Policy, Organization & Leadership at the College of Education at Illinois, and Tyler Kearney, the director of planning and analysis in the Office for Planning and Budgeting.
