The College currently has 135 James Scholars (about 20 percent of its enrollment), a campus-wide but unit-specific program named in honor of Edmund James, the fourth University of Illinois president. The program offers a rigorous but rewarding honors sequence for undergraduate students.

Alma insisted on making the statue a birthday card and delivering it to her. The six-year old wrote it, included a photograph of herself inside the envelope, and brought it to the statue the next trip over to campus. Emily explained that later that day, they looked on the Alma Cam and saw that the card was gone—proving that the Alma Mater must have read it.

The Critical Infrastructure Resilience Institute, led by the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, has been selected to head up a $2 million project to research and develop a plan for a national cybersecurity education network.
