Prairie Elementary School in Urbana will be renamed Dr. Preston L. Williams Jr. Elementary School in honor of Dr. Williams. The Urbana resident served in numerous roles during his more than 26 years with the Urbana and Champaign school districts, including as a teacher and coach, an assistant principal, deputy superintendent for curriculum and instruction, and as superintendent for six years.
