Analyses of two- and four-year colleges’ spending patterns from 2000-14 indicates that revenue from college promise scholarships was associated with decreased spending on instruction and student services. The study was conducted by Jennifer Delaney, professor of Educational Policy, Organization and Leadership; and Bradley Hemenway, a data analyst in the Gies College of Business.

‘Chrysalis’, the new sculptural art installation featured in the north stairwell, aims to metaphorically highlight and represent the transformative learning experience for students during their academic career at the University of Illinois. A ‘chrysalis’ refers to the protective casing the monarch caterpillar creates, inside which it transforms into a butterfly.

This award is given annually at the College of Education Convocation Ceremony, where each recipient delivers a speech to their peers.
